Having assessed our home expenses over time, I realized that I needed to make major cost cut downs. Making this soap at home has been a game changer for us. It reduced our total soap expenses by 80%. Amazing..right? It has also saved us from buying dilute detergent from soap. It is very easy to make and prep time is about 30minutes.

Ingredients (for 20L of liquid soap)
1. Ungalo ; ½ kg
2. Salt; ½ kg
3. Sulphonic acid; ½ kg
4. Caustic soda; 3 tablespoons
5. CMC instant; 50g
6. Color
7. perfume of choice.

Items:
1. Bucket/ mixing container
2. Wooden stick for mixing
3. Gloves
4. Nose mask
5. Table spoon.
Instructions
1. Mix salt and Ungalo vigorously in a bucket until the mixture turns white in color. Add 2 cups of water and continue mixing until you obtain a porridge like consistency.

2. Add sulphonic acid and continue mixing till it is well blended into the mixture. I sometimes add a cup or two of water for easier mixing if the mixture becomes too thick.
3. Add the caustic to the mixture and stir. Care should be taken when using caustic soda since it burns when it gets into contact with the skin.
4.Mix CMC with 4 cups of water and add to the mixture
6. Add the remaining water to make 20 litres of product.
7. Color and Perfume may be added at this point. (I prefer to add perfume to the settled soap the next morning coz the scent stays stronger and lasts longer)
8. Leave the liquid soap to settle in a bucket overnight. When all bubbles are removed, then its ready for use.

This recipe yields approximately 24 litres of liquid soap. This can last you about 2 to 3 months depending on your daily home consumption. And if you would like to make extra money; then why not?
