I have always loved peace and quiet. Perhaps because it’s my chance to free up my cluttered brain. Every single day, I feel like at least a few minutes of silence go a long way in keeping me sane.
I rarely listen to the radio be it in the car or at home. I have about 10 songs on my computer and phone which I replay. I rarely watch TV and enjoy doing most activities in silence. I could sit at my desk all day long and never tire of the quiet. Just in case you’re wondering, Godwin is the exact opposite!
After my daughter was born, my quiet life was immediately flooded with crying, screaming, musical toys, children’s songs…noise and more. I was overwhelmed. All my quiet time was gone.
Then I discovered cycling. Cycling on purpose!
I’ve always enjoyed bike riding, being outside, getting a bit of fresh air, and relishing in the peace and quiet. I made it part of my evening routine to go bike riding so I could have a few moments to myself to: clear my brain, to zone out and think about nothing, or everything, or anything I wanted to without a fussing baby, TV, or music cluttering up my brain.
I used to go cycling just because I could, once in a while. As a hobby. But lately, I go bike riding for those few moments of silence each day. That is how much I need/crave silent time.
I was hoping to reclaim my silent time when my daughter masters her sleep routine. But even before she could, my hubby adopted another puppy— more noise! For now, I don’t see the noise at mine dying out anytime soon. I guess I’ll be cycling for the next several years!

What do you do to rejuvenate?
