A routine refers to a sequence of actions that is regularly followed. Doing the same general activities in the same order daily, has a way of conditioning the brain. (Pavlov’s experiment) Routines can help you get going, especially when trying to form a new habit.
Self care plan:

When coming up with my self care plan, I usually focus on the activities that make me feel productive. Those with realisable benefits , values or return on time investment. for example cleaning up my room, having a healthy meal or practicing a long- forgotten Hobby. This helps me to channel my stress to something positive.
Goal setting is a part of every successful person’s daily routine. I usually set a maximum of three clear goals for each of the major self care dimensions ie Body, Soul and Spirit. This makes it simpler for me to list the relevant self-care activities under each major goal as per my self care language. I then incorporate the activities into an already existing morning or evening routine/habits such that they are easier to adopt.

When you first add new activities to your routine, you might face a lot of resistance because your brain is not used to functioning the new way. The solution is consistency and perseverance. Start slow, take baby steps and commit to stick to plan for at least a month.
Just do not stop until you’re where you want to be.
